It had been just entering evening when Morgan arrived at this particular establishment. She never expected to run into a mall earlier, and she was certain that knowing of this place would be helpful in the long run. She would need all kinds of vital equipment and supplies to survive the heckticness of Hyakuji. If her first day of class... no, scratch that, her very FIRST class was any indicator, then she would need all the knowledge she could get. All the places, how people gathered, and most importantly, all the places she could run and hide if she ever needed it. It was sort of a specialty of hers. Not a true skill, just something she's been doing by habit for a while. The mall was a death trap for her, with so many people gathering here and there, it's a wonder that she was able to come at all. A crowded food court, what seems to be a spiffy looking arcade, a movie theatre... she was learning the hard way that this place might not be possible to fully explore in one day. As luck would have it, she became hopelessly lost. Staying hidden within her hoodie, she figures it best to look up the directory and see where the exit was. The plan was to leave for the time being and come back with pen and paper, to create her own map of the place. The whole time, she kept quiet, never once speaking a single word, as if fearful that if she did something evil would befall her if she even dared to speak up. Ok... so I'm here... I think... I'm all the way in the middle, aren't I? Alright, so if I just use landmarks I can find my way an- Hey! They have Gamestop here! Ok, totally making a pit stop to see what selections they have here! Maybe I can even by headphones and get an mp3 player! I've been wanting one for a while now! She takes a look into her pocket and learns an unforunate truth, no money to spare. ... Oh... right... I only came with my laptop, Parker, and some games... why didn't I think to bring money? I better get in touch with my family and ask them to wire some over if I'm to survive... Feeling defeated by her own lack of foresight, she decides to go to the Gamestop anyway. No harm is just looking, right? Edited by dandanni, May 10 2012, 06:14 AM.

Jonny had come to the mall, looking to buy maybe a couple of things to add to the dorm room. With summer on the way, there were going to be number of new releases in just about, well, everything, and so this would be also an opportunity to preorder things beforehand. He'd been through a number of stores already, including clothes, appliances, and other such general things. Video games were the latest target to be examined, and he'd gone through a fair few stores already. Though, he wasn't currently looking for anything specific, instead just seeing what each store had, and if a game had caught his eye, trying to determine what place did the best deals. Not that he'd have trouble affording them, but it'd be good for future references and all that. "Hmm... 500 yen more over here." The boy commented as he observed the sticker price on the box for the latest Elder Scrolls game - Skyrim. Somehow, it had slipped under his radar, but now that it had come to mind, he was looking to buy it. "Wonder what a Japanese Fus Ro Dah sounds like..." Despite not playing the game, Jonny was more than well aware of a few aspects of it - spoilers though they may be - and was curious as to how they'd been translated across the pacific. Hell, he wasn't sure if the game even was dubbed for Japanese consumers - maybe they just subtitled it, or maybe there was an option to switch over. It'd be interesting to find out later. "Though, I'm gonna have to go back and forth a bit it seems..." He sighed as he put the box down, making his way back towards the store's front door. Not quite looking where he was going, he bumped into someone, though was quick enough to reach out an arm for them, so they wouldn't fall. "Ah, sorry about that. Are you... Wait..." Jonny blinked a few moments as he stared at the face beneath the hoodie, before the lightbulb lit above his head. "From class, right? You're the girl I saved." He recognised her easily enough, and offered a light smile, as well as a handshake. "I don't think we've properly met. Jonny Desmond." |

Ok, so what can I do to get by for the time being? she thought, absentmindly not paying attention to where she was going. I have at least three PSP's (thanks grandpa for letting me play three player by myself, weirdest game experience ever...) and I have two DSI's... maybe there's a place I can go to make a small bit of cash off of the extras? At least it should hopefully hold until- Her thoughts were interrupted by the experience of bumping into someone. CRAP! PERSON!! HIDE!!! She thought as she frantically rushed to hide her head in her hoodie. "Ah, sorry about that. Are you... Wait..." Wait? Wait is not a good word! That implies that this guy might know me or thinks I'm suspicious! "From class, right? You're the girl I saved." Now it was her turn to have a light bulb over her head. Finally letting herself peek beyond the hoodie, she came upon the face of the Good Samaritan from before. "I don't think we've properly met. Jonny Desmond." he said, giving her a light smile and an outstretch hand. At first, she just sort of stared at him. Then at the hand. Then right back at him. Her thoughts were running a mile a minute, though not of the usual "Flight or flight" thoughts she was accustomed to having. Oh my gosh, it's him! It's the super hero!!! Talk about luck!!! And at the mall no less!!!! And he's offering a hand shake?! How many nerds slash geeks get to shake the hand of a super hero!!! All my online buddies will be so hating if they learned of this!!! Ok, calm down... you can do this... you have to pull this off just right! Who knows? Maybe he can be your first friend here, or even take you in as his side-kick! Isn't that something? Now, the key to making this work is a good first impression!!! Just stay calm, relax, and above all don't panick! You can do this, Morgy! Go for it!!! That said, she cautiously takes the offered hand and gives it a little shake. Feeling properly psyched up from that, she takes a deep breath and finally introduces herself. "M-ma-my name is Corbin Marketer! I'm very meased to pleet you!" Realizing what she said, she gave a very low bow, both as a greeting and as a means to hide her embarrassed face. Hi, my name is not really my name! Would you like to be further confused by my failed antics? she thought cynically to herself, mentally kicking herself for allowing herself to panic at the last minute. |

Jonny stared at the girl a few moments, a little confused at the response he was getting - or rather, the lack thereof. All he was getting off the fellow student was a stare in response, though she seemed to be excited for some reason, looking between him and his hand. It were as if they were disbelieving of the fact Jonny was there, or otherwise surprised in some shape or form. And honestly speaking, Jonny wasn't so sure on what there was to be so shocked about. The mall was a hotspot for just about everybody in the city, so coming across another student - even one you barely knew - wasn't exactly unlikely. A pleasant surprise maybe, but nothing that would utterly blow the mind away. Eventually, the girl seemed to brave up and accept his handshake, the two lightly lifting their hands up and down as they shook. A moment later, the girl seemed to take a deep breath, before... attempting, to introduce herself. "M-ma-my name is Corbin Marketer! I'm very meased to pleet you!" The reason Jonny classed it as an 'attempt', was because of how clear it was - even to him - that she was having a little trouble in really doing so. "Hehehe... sorry, really shouldn't be laughing at your expense like that. Now how about you slow down, calm down, and try that again. Unless your name is Corbin, and you are in fact meased." Jonny grinned as he gave the girl a light pat on the shoulder, giving a reassuring smile. |

Someone shoot me now... she thought to herself, still somewhat upset over the embarrassing introduction. "Hehehe... sorry, really shouldn't be laughing at your expense like that." No, by all means, laugh. Everyone else does... thought the miserable girl. " Now how about you slow down, calm down, and try that again. Unless your name is Corbin, and you are in fact meased." She looked up just as he gave her the pat on the shoulder, and admittedly, the friendly gesture and the kind smile were indeed re-assuring. It helped that it felt like he was giving her a second chance at her first impression. Ok, second try, part deux... she thought, clearing her throat and speaking in a polite manner. "Forgive me for that... It's not often I get to me a live Super Hero in person, heh... No, my name is Morgan Carpenter. It's a pleasure to officially make your acquaintance." Much better! Still a little shy, considering, but much better... she thought, satisfied with the slight improvement. |

Jonny waited as the girl cleared her throat, being patient with her so that she would properly have the chance to introduce herself. Second impressions were often as important as the first; whilst one may forge an initial idea of how one was, it was the second that helped determine whether or not it was true or false. And his first impression of her, from science class, was of a girl who whilst a little too easy to scare, was at least able to keep calm and composed, with a little support. Until Mare had punched in the constant acceleration, she'd calmed considerably when he'd helped her out. Like... just push her in the right direction, and eventually, she'd be fine. "Forgive me for that... It's not often I get to me a live Super Hero in person, heh... No, my name is Morgan Carpenter. It's a pleasure to officially make your acquaintance." Jonny blinked a bit at her initial comment, before easing up as she gave her real name. "Well Morgan, nice to meet you too. Though by you name... I'd guess you're a foreigner, right? I'm British, myself." Jonny commented, having thought over the odds of someone with a name like Morgan's as being Japanese. Pretty unlikely, really. "And I'm not sure where you pulled Super Hero from... I just try to help. Want real superheroes? Try looking around for one of the Kamen Riders some time... who knows, maybe Sailor Sol will turn up?" That last one was something of a hope on Jonny's part... though he wasn't going to break his promise just like that. "But yeah, welcome to Hyakuji. Hope you have a good number of years here." Jonny smiled, before glancing slightly over his shoulder. "Shopping?" |

She did feel a bit more comfortable there. And it helped how friendly he's being. If nothing else, she felt like she could at least talk to him somewhat. "Well Morgan, nice to meet you too. Though by you name... I'd guess you're a foreigner, right? I'm British, myself." "Brit? Sweet! Tup tup, cheerio, that's a good lad, right?" She could sense a certain level of awkwardness coming from that. Mentally, for some odd reason, she envisioned a certain Time Traveling TV character (specifically the tenth generation) telling her simply "No... just no..." "S-sorry, bad joke... Yeah, that's right, I'm an American. To be honest, I found out about Hyakuji on the web. I originally thought it was just some kind of joke, but Grandfather somehow proved it to be true. And when Grandfather says it's true, you tend to believe it." "And I'm not sure where you pulled Super Hero from... I just try to help. Want real superheroes? Try looking around for one of the Kamen Riders some time... who knows, maybe Sailor Sol will turn up?" "Wait, Kamen Riders? Sailor Sol? Here?! I never ever thought- I mean I thought it was some kind of hoax at first reading about them in the news!!! But after that experience in class, and meeting a real live- I mean wow! I'd love to get to see them in action!" Obviously, this girl was a super-hero nut. Just the mention of them being a possible reality was sending her into fangirl mode. "If you tell me that Spiderman is real, I will feint in excitment! I will do it, I swear!". Oddly enough, it took a small moment for her to realize another part he had said that just didn't sit right with her. "Wait, not a super hero? What are you talking about! You have super powers, right? You have a genuine desire to want to help people, right? Well there you go! A super hero is a hero who goes out of their way to help people. What makes them super is their supernatural abilities! Or their ability to perform impressive feats deemed impossible to the common folk like myself!" She seems kind of different from before. Before, she was a simple, shy, and very polite girl. All of a sudden, that was replaced with a rather excitable girl who is only too happy to have stumbled onto a subject. That excitableness suddenly reverted back to politeness when Jonny stated, "But yeah, welcome to Hyakuji. Hope you have a good number of years here. "O-oh, I hope to enjoy a great deal of those years myself. First day... was less then what I had hoped for, but still they can't all be shaky like that, right?" She seemed pretty bright, hopeful at least. She never was one to mope over much if she could help it. "Shopping?" Until her finances came into play. "N-no... she groaned, slouching a little, "Though it'd be nice... I was kind of a dummy and forgot to bring some cash with me... I should probably consider looking for a part-time job or something to get by for the time being." |

Jonny honestly wasn't that surprised by the notion of Morgan being a foreigner, or even more specifically, from the United States. Hyakuji, whilst a school set inside Japanese borders, was an institute so unique in its ability to cope and teach students of incredible ability, that it was arguably much more of a world institution. At the very least, there were just so many students who weren't Japanese by birth or by citizenship, that if you pulled out the entire school and dropped it into another country, it'd be hard to tell the difference. Well, admittedly, the scenery around the school would likely be different, but you get the idea. Heck... the number of people he could personally name name as being native to Japan, was at least the same size as those who weren't - if not smaller. Though that being said, it seemed that girl was... well, to say that she was 'into' superheroes was like saying the Sun was a tad warm. He'd honestly not seen anyone react like this before, particularly when he mentioned the reality of Kamen Riders and the sailor senshi. Okay, sure, maybe it might come as a surprise to know that people in power armour did in fact exist and were enerally saving the day, but she didn't have to... squee, over it so much. Hell, he was slightly disappointed that he couldn't honestly tell her Spider-Man existed, when she seemed to be on such a roll. An irony really, that he was probably the closet she'd ever come to that anyway, due that one time he had a webline launcher strapped to his wrist... That being said, he had to admit, he did fit at least some of the requirements to meet Morgan's definition of a superhero. He had super speed after all, had saved lives, and he did so because he simply found it the right thing to do. But at the same time, he didn't have some fanciful costume or secret identity to go with those abilities. He just stepped in and helped where he could, and he hoped that anyone else would do the same, if they were able. Whilst it admittedly wasn't something he had always done, after his encounter with a certain being... yeah, it just came naturally now. So maybe, whilst by technicality he was a superhero, he didn't really feel like one. "Wait, hold on, you don't mean you've literally got no money, do you?" He asked, wondering just what it was with new girls coming to this city, and forgetting about finances. Okay, to be fair, Chris had some, but had just used them up on the way here. But Morgan had apparently not even put a single penny into her pocket before leaving. "Well, thats no good. I mean, getting a job takes, well, time. And thats time in which you could end up starving if you're not careful." No money meant no food, no food meant no digestion, and no digestion meant no energy to run off. "Guess you'll be owing me two, huh?" Jonny asked rather rhetorcally, briefly drawing out his wallet. "Lets go get you some groceries - thats the thing that'll matter most right now. Don't worry, I can afford it no problem." He smiled at the girl, gesturing for her to follow him as he went towards one of the best places he knew in the mall, when it came to getting food. |

"Well, ok, sure, I really should have thought this through, I really should have..." she said, feeling a little defensive, "I guess I just got caught up in the excitement a little... but it's ok, really. I can sell some of my extra handheld-" "Guess you'll be owing me two, huh?" "-systems and live off of that for a little bit! Should buy me enough time to find a part time job until my family can send me a little extra and- wait, what did you just say? She was really astonished. Was this guy the nicest gentleman she had ever met or what? "N-no, that's ok! I mean, really, I can just ask my family to wire me some money and- you'd seriously do that for me? Seriously?! "Lets go get you some groceries - thats the thing that'll matter most right now. Don't worry, I can afford it no problem." For a moment, she was speechless. Was this guy really so willing to help a total stranger with even something as mundane as this? She couldn't compose herself much longer, immediately hugging him the moment she regained her wits. "Thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou you are the nicest super hero I have ever met! Seriously! The... nicest!" Let's ignore the fact that he's also the first super hero I've ever met, shall we? After taking a moment to realize what she was doing, she immediately pulled away, a little embarrassed to her actions. She was very tempted to hide, but for now she didn't. He was just so nice, after all, so there's no reason to be afraid of him, right? "If you don't mind, there are some very important things I need to get before getting groceries for myself. I know it may sound strange, but I consider it supplies as important as groceries. Where's the nearest pet store from here?" |

If there was one thing Jonny had not been expecting from this girl, in spite of her clear adoration for him - and superheroes in general - was when she wrapped her arns around him, pulling him into a hug. Of course, he couldn't even see her when she was doing this; he'd already been beginning to walk, and thus had his back turned to her when she made her move. It also meant she couldn't see the combined embarassment and shock on his face, though he maintained himself fairly well aside of that. He waited patiently as the girl repeated many a time her thanks, the girl just clearly caught up in the moment. "You uh, do realise we're not going to be able to go to much of anywhere, or buy much of anything, if you hold on like that, right?" He asked with a small chuckle and a lumiscent blush on his face, before finally, the girl's grip was gone. The boy briefly turned around to look at her, quickly realising how embarassing it might have been, even for her, to do that so publically. "Calm down a little too. I mean, it's just a bit of shopping - no big deal." Jonny downplayed his actions, hoping it might in turn help Morgan to downplay how she was feeling. "If you don't mind, there are some very important things I need to get before getting groceries for myself. I know it may sound strange, but I consider it supplies as important as groceries. Where's the nearest pet store from here?" The girl then asked, and Jonny considered it for a brief moment. "Pet store... I think there's one right around the corner. I occasionally have to buy supplies from there too, so unless it sold out over the last week, it should still be there." He said, again gesturing for Morgan to follow, though his change in direction indicated the change in destination. "I take it then you've either got a pet to feed, or are looking for one?" Those were the only two conclusions Jonny could really draw, since otherwise, why would she want to head there at all? "I've got a dog myself. Well, two technically, but only one of them is over here in Japan. She's a little under a year old... And admittedly, I'm not sure what the dorm rules say on size limitations. Hope that doesn't get me in trouble..." He trailed off briefly, before deciding to address a concern Morgan might have, as they arrived outside the store. "And no, she doesn't have superpowers. Unless you count being absolutely adorable." He chuckled, before heading inside. |

"Right Behind ya, Jonny." she replied, following close behind him as he lead the way. Very close behind. It was almost as if she was using him as a shield from the rest of society. If nothing else, at least he's obtained a little of her trust. Just a bit of shopping, he says... Guy doesn't understand what it's like for a girl with people anxiety... then again, I kind of envy him for that. I bet he doesn't scare easily of anyone. "I take it then you've either got a pet to feed, or are looking for one?" His first assumption was right on the nail, actually. "Spider, actually," she replied, "I need to get some feeder bugs for the guy. I don't think he wants to live off of fruit juice forever. And that's assuming he didn't pull a houdini on me while I was out today..." Then she sulked a little, coming to terms with the fact that, knowing her luck, he probably did. The sulking livened up at the very mention of puppies. "Wait, you have a puppy in your room? Talk about bold! I know I can hide Parker if I needed to, but how does one hide a doggie? And I hope she's not gonna be a big doggie. What kind of breed is she? And-" "And no, she doesn't have superpowers. Unless you count being absolutely adorable." Darn it, he predicted my attack! she thought before continuing, "Well... no... but it should be! Cuteness should totally count as a super power!" |

Well... that one had taken Jonny more than a bit by surprise. Not a lot of people that he knew of that kept pet Spiders, and it honestly came as a surprise that someone like Morgan would be one of those few who did. It just seemed to be so... well, guess that just went to show that one shouldn't always judge a book by its cover. That all being said, he was now actually a little curious about the details of this creature. Was it a rare and exotic species of some description, or just a common wolf spider that she'd taken a liking to? And how exactly does one even raise a creature like that? Though, maybe he'd end up accidentally meeting it, if Morgan's fears about it getting loose had any real basis to them. It would certainly be a surprise, and he could only hope that say, Yuki, were not to find it. Jonny could also understand the confusion Morgan have with regards to how one hides a dog in the dorm... and whilst he didn't really do so, having it fit was an increasing concern. Seki was a labrador, which meant that even at a year old, she'd be a fairly sizeable dog. He couldn't keep her sleeping under his bed forever. "In that case, then yes, Seki has a superpower. Though the power to shrink herself down would be useful as she grows older. She's a labrador - black fur. So she's been manageable for now, but eventually... she's gonna be big enough that little kids could use her in place of a horse." The mental image made him laugh, as he looked around the store. There were numerous things for numerous species, though Jonny wasn't sure what Morgan was looking for... well, aside of one thing. "So which bugs does your spider need again?" He asked, a little outside his familiar territory. |

A labrador? Now she was both interested in meeting her as well as worried. She remembers a few that were pets around her old neighborhood, and they were HUGE! She even suspects that they're responsible for the urban legends about the Black Dog. Though, at the mention of the possibility to ride them, she started picturing one such dog, decked out in battle armor as it rides on to battle ogres and demons. Why she thought of such a sight was beyond her, especially since no puppy should have to fight such scary things. "Then I wish you the best of luck in raising her," Morgan expressed, "And if there's anything I can do to help, please let me know. I have a friend who's really knowledgeable about dogs in particular. She should be able to figure out almost anything about a dog with if you tell her about them." Then came the question of what bugs Parker was known to eat. "Grasshoppers, crickets... roaches... Parker is pretty handy during an infestation. Though I'm willing to bet the big hairy lug is waiting impatiently for his food right now. He's a tarantula, so you know, very friendly too. Kind of odd considering tarantula's are normally very skittish. And they will bite you if they feel threatened. They have tell tell signs that they'll bite, raising their front legs and giving a hissing sound, like... Hsss, hssss... The bite isn't deadly to us, though, and probably not deadly to supers, unless you're allergic. No, what you really have to watch out for is the barbed hair he can shoot out at you. It can really take you by surprise... s-sorry... spiders are kind of a hobby of mine..." It was true. Supers and spiders were her two most favorite subjects to discuss, causing her to loose hours upon hours of conversation about either spiders or comic book heroes. Maybe that's why she likes Spider-man so much? |

"I'll probably need that luck, given how much energy she sometimes has." A fitting irony that a boy whose running never tired him, would be the owner of a dog that would go for hours on end without giving it a rest. "Though, I don't think I'll need too much help, unless her co-owner is busy on the days we're meant to switch. Ah, right, see - I don't own Seki by myself. She's shared between me and my best friend." Jonny explained as they passed by the first few aisles of the store, geared towards the 'typical' pets, such as dogs and cats. Things for spiders, lizards, and so forth, were towards the back. Jonny then listened to Morgan as she revealed the particular 'species' - as vague as it was - of her spider, namely that it was in fact a tarantula. The immediate image that came to Jonny's mind was one of a large, hairy creature with protruding fangs... and the next was a giant, robotic version of the same thing, rampaging through the city. ...Well, that just went and showed the kind of life he led, now didn't it? "You've certainly looked up quite a bit on spiders, if you know all that. Though one thing you might wanna get clear..." Jonny said, briefly turning, and giving Morgan a light poke to her head smiling as he did so. "Being a 'Super' doesn't necessarily give a person anymore protection than the average joe, unless thats specifically part of their abilities. I mean... you know I'm protected from the force of an object hitting me back, right? From science class?" Morgan probably would remember, given how she'd used it to get off his hovercraft towards the end of the lesson. "Well, if something's trying to hit me, and I'm not moving with enough force to deflect or overpower it, then I'm still gonna take the hit. And I'm certainly not gonna be wanting spider venom running through my veins and arteries." He chuckled slightly, before looking around. Nobody watching, so... "Heck, I've been stabbed more than a few times. Here's one of the ones that have stuck." He moved his hands to the edge of his shirt, before raising it slightly to reveal part of his abs. Whilst the six pack might take Morgan's notice, the boy himself pointed towards a line of flesh that didn't seem to fit with what surrounded it. "The scar's from a small knife. Nothing too serious, though I hope it makes my point." He let his shirt drop back down, before looking to Morgan again. "Anyway, you know what you're looking for, so go and pick it out. I'm paying, remember?" |

So he was a "shared" pet. Now she wanted to meet this other person, get to know the "Best Friend." One of her thoughts were if they were partners in crime-fighting, of this best friend was his side kick, or perhaps some kind of subject for shipping? She immediately scratched that last thought out, deciding it best not to even think about shipping him like that until she actually GOT to meet this person. "You've certainly looked up quite a bit on spiders, if you know all that. Though one thing you might wanna get clear..." She would have asked the rhetorical question of "What would that be?" if her head hadn't be poked. She gave a confused slight pout to that. At that point, he started to talk about the immunities and vulnerabilities of 'supers,' or rather the lack there of. She listened to his little lecture and nodded during his pauses. It made sense, really. After all, Spidey isn't the Man of Steal. Though, it got a thought process started when he mentioned his immunity to the force of something hitting him when he's in motion. Yeah, that's right... he explained that in Science Class today when he transferred some of that power to me. I survived a big fall! That was pretty awesome! But... does that mean I'm only immune to falling great distances? I wonder if I should test it out or something? M-maybe I shouldn't... what if it decides to stop working? I could die! No, no way, you have been empowered this way! Revel in it... REVEL!!! It seems the poor sap has somehow convinced herself that she has obtained some kind of super power due to what Jonny had temporarily loaned her. Then came the interesting part. She noticed that he was checking for... maybe unwanted company? Otherwise, he then continued the brief lecture while showing an example. Whoa... six pack of abs there, guy be working out! she thought childishly, H-hold on... is that... "The scar's from a small knife. Nothing too serious, though I hope it makes my point." "Uh... right... don't go jumping off buildings just to test if I'm still invulnerable..." she sort of said unconsciously. Whether she was still convinced of it or not, he may have just prevented her from attempting something considerably stupid. "Anyway, you know what you're looking for, so go and pick it out.
