As the title has said it, this thread is for those in Arcadia's Fire division, the combat-related counterpart to the book retrieval mission at Neo-Arcadia HQ. I'll leave this thread running for a week or so before starting the mission proper, and once the mission thread is started only those who have posted in this thread may post.

"So, how's it going?" Lavender asked as she leaned forward, peering at the monitor at a computer terminal; one of several in the mission control room located in front of the Arc Angel's hangar, manned by a Wind division operative.

"We've tracked down the location of the tome of spells, captain," The Wind division operative replied, straightening her glasses. "It's located on one of the worlds covered by our spy satellite... Florencia." The Arcadian hit a key on the keyboard, bringing up a large-scale holographic screen in front of the control console.

"I see..." Lavender mused, resting her chin on her right hand and the elbow of her right arm on her left hand in a deep thought pose. She'd made a foray to Florencia with the DenLiner crew before arriving in Traverse Town, and knew enough about it to know that it was a realm dominated by magic. Still, if someone in that realm had somehow gotten their hands on the book it was certainly a cause for worry, and the havoc they could bring would be unthinkable.

"Attention all Fire Division operatives, this is Lavender; if you have received this message, please report to the mission control at Arcadia HQ ASAP, over." Lavender sent a mass signal to Arcadia's Fire division operatives over the Arcadian link. That being done, the purple-haired Esper walked towards the main control seat and sat down on the chair, leaning back. Now it was a matter of waiting for the Arcadians to respond to her message.

Yumi had been running around Jameson’s kitchen for the last 20 minutes, trying to make herself the perfect breakfast. One plate of fried eggs, bacon, baked beans and toast later, she had just perched herself down on the edge of her seat when the resounding voice in her head just about made her fall off again. Talk about impeccable timing.

Report to Mission Control at Arcadia HQ hey? This sounded promising. Lazy days at Jameson's apartment were nice for a while, but with four people cramped into a small living space with nothing else to occupy them but each other... Yumi was more than ready for a diversion. Polishing off her meal in record time, she was up, changed into her Arcadia uniform and out the door before five minutes had elapsed.

The black pleated leather skirt reached down to just above her knees, hugging close to her hips but flaring out as it got lower. A pair of opaque black cotton tights underneath hid her remaining skin and meant she didn't have to worry about staying decent in a fight. As for her top half, a close-fitting white cotton blouse with a black leather over-vest buttoning in the front completed her outfit. Both garments dipped satisfyingly low in the front, flattering but not over-emphasising her curves. On her feet a pair of black leather knee-high boots on sensible chunky heels rounded off her rather bad-ass innocent-come-minx uniform.

Running eagerly through the town, before long she had reached the Fairy Tail Guild Hall. With a sheepish look at the first-floor tavern which had been the site of her drunken misadventures a few nights previously, she quickly made her way up to the floor where Arcadia's headquarters were stationed.

Recognising Lavender, Yumi waved and walked over to where her Commander was standing near a computer terminal. Briefly saluting, she addressed the purple-haired lady. "Reporting for duty ma'am! What's the mission today?"

Refreshing
Jameson took a deep breath tucking his hands into his pockets. His eyes were set on the far wall as a smile touched his lips. A mission meant stuff to day. A lazy day at the homestead was fine but this is more his speed. He stepped into the office adjusting his cuffs idly. Single gray eye fixed on the fabric sleeve. He was eager.. but somewhat worried...

Years had passed, come and gone, since he had arrived in this place. His fingers trailed along the wall. He'd fought the leadership of this group many times. He'd been a hindrance at times. He'd always fought for what he believed but he had believed a great many things in his life and not all, or even most, of them could have been the correct thing to think at the time. He had made many mistakes in Arcadia.. Could he rectify them..?

He clenched his fingers into a ball, he had to protect these people! He was stronger and smarter now. He'd not let them suffer for nothing and only gain suffering. He would guide them to these victories one at a time. And soon he'd help them find their way home.

And his way back to his brother.. His life could finally begin. He could leave Hyakuji behind him and become the famous detective that he'd always wanted to be. However as he thought this he stepped into the main room and saw Yumi. Somehow his desire to abandon Hyakuji made him feel a bit guilty. He frowned before breaking into a smile. "Man, you're gonna get sick of seeing me around." Jameson said with a laugh. He glanced to Lavender. "Woow... Gotta admire a woman in uniform." Jameson said with a warm smile.

"Nice to see you again chief." He said glancing around at the office. "Sorry we don't hang out in my free time. If you knew the week I'd had you might understand." He said with a bemused smile.

Chizu stepped into the Arcadia office, dressed in her Arcadia field uniform--a black long-sleeved shirt with a wide band of white around the hem, down the middle, and around the cuffs, black pants with a line down the sides, white boots, and a sleeveless white coat that trailed behind her as she walked in. She had been hanging around Traverse Town recovering from the battle at Shinya when she heard the mission. She had planned to spend only a couple of days or so to rest up, but somehow Damon had gotten her to extend that to four. But an Arcadia mission would wait for no one, and Chizu seized her chance to escape and get back in the action.

She looked around the room as she walked in, taking note of Lavender, Jameson, and some other girl she didn't know. That wasn't surprising, she didn't know half the Arcadia members nowadays. She looked around, wondering if Damon and Miyuki would show up. Miyuki had taken a beating in that whole Shinya disaster. Chizu wouldn't be surprised if the younger girl decided to stay home and relax. Might make things easier for her.

"We got trouble, boss?" she asked Lavender as she entered.

Part of her hoped that the answer was yes. Contrary to popular belief, Chizu did not actually like to fight big battles where the world was at stake and the only thing standing between it and utter destruction were a handful of students that just happened to have special powers. She would fight them and she would make it a point to always be there, but really, she preferred simple fights where all she risked was herself. Anything, though, was preferable to the mind-numbing boredom that had taken over her life in the past few days.

~ * ~ * ~

Star walked into Arcadia Headquarters, smiling brightly. She had already changed into her Arcadia uniform--a black long-sleeved shirt and pleated white skirt with a black cloak with two white crosses on the front over it. She liked her outfit, aside from the fact that it made her look like a female Helios. She could deal with that, though, Hel was pretty cool. He had been her partner since the day she was born, after all.

She had been sitting around in Traverse Town for a while as she and Meglumar tried to figure out what they would do next. It was a good thing that she was still here and not elsewhere when she heard the call to arms in her mind. Otherwise she might just miss out on the interesting things. She looked around, her smile brightening as she recognized Chizu. Of course, it wasn't her Chizu--not the Chizu she knew from Kara--so this Chizu probably had absolutely no clue who she was. Still, it was interesting to see that Chizu in any world would want to be where the action was.

"Star Ricci reporting for duty!" said Star to Lavender.

Damon entered the room, in his Arcadian garb, much like everyone else. A hooded white cloak, with black lining. He had decided to wear white gloved and boots with it, despite the strange feeling it gave him. His shadowy 'skin' still felt the clothing he was in when he was turned, and wearing much more over it made him feel like he was wearing a winter jacket in the Sahara desert. Still, he needed to interact with things without scaring the living crap out of them.

Chizu, as per the usual, was already there, ready for a fight. The girl would probably fight anything at any time, given enough of a reason, and amnesty from any after effects. Jameson was there as well, and another two girls he did not know. It seemed he was here somewhat early then. "Damon Ark, reporting for duty." He said simply, as he looked to the leader, Lavender. He didn't know much about this woman, but she seemed to be a capable leader, at least.

~*~*~*~*~

Meglumar followed behind Star, also transformed into his Arcadia uniform. A black long sleever shirt with matching pants, a white tunic over that, and above THAT was a high collared white coat, all around and alright outfit. On the inside of his coat, at his side, was his sword. He was grateful the belt on the pants was strong enough to work with his sheath, as he did not wish to carry it around in his hands.

He stopped and blinked as he saw Chizu. She was definitely someone he knew from the school. She was the one people were talking about, the one rumored to be running for the presidency of the school back in Karazhan. What was her name? "Yama....Mura?" He muttered out loud as he looked to Star. She seemed to recognize her too. She was smiling quite a bit.

...Bah, either way. He did not know the girl personally, she was two years ahead of him, and they only shared one class before the accident. He instead turned his head about to see the various people. One female, One male, and one....one he couldn't tell. They were wearing a cloak, with a hood up. He'd have to get in their face to see who they were. Also there was Lavender, whom he knew. It was still rather surprising to hear she was the leader of this group. Then again, considering how she dominated the game days beforehand, it was at the same time not SO surprising as to be unbelievable.

"I am as well. it is good to see you again, Miss Lavender." He said as Star finished her 'reporting for duty' introduction.

Erin arrived. They had a mission? He wasn't really prepared for this at all but it was a mission. He joined Arcadia so he should come to the missions, shouldn't he? He was pretty sure he could be useful here. "Erin Sansai reporting, Captain." He spoke without too much emphasis.

He remembered his Arcadia Uniform and activated the black field uniform. There. It was bad to report out of uniform but at least he remembered once he was there. The white lined black coat and black slacks were completely standard.

He didn't know what the mission was. Hopefully they'd just be tracking something down or something. He knew that he was in the Extermination division but he wasn't sure he could Exterminate things. Well he probably could. He still hoped they wouldn't have to help wipe out some mess of thing.

"Ryo Yansaki reporting,"Ryo said. He walked in wearing the Arcadia uniform and Model S floated nearby. A strange black wisp floated around Ryo before entering his chest.

"How many times must I tell you to stay inside? Its dangerous and if you die so do I,"Ryo's thoughts scolded.

"Give me a break. I don't even have a physical form and all this power just sits there building up...like gas..."Terion thought.

"Get better analogies..."Ryo thought.

Miyuki was still sore from the battle at Shinya. Nevertheless, she walked into the Arcadia office in her field uniform. A white long sleeved shirt with black designs along the edges and a small black ribbon on the top. The skirt looked similar but had a black inner skirt. She wore white boots with black lines that went up to her knees. Her hair was tied in a neat pony-tail with a black ribbon.

"Hello. Miyuki Shibamura reporting in." she said smiling.

She noticed Chizu and Damon so she walked up to them and smiled. "Good morning." she said to them.

Maxi followed into the room as the other members, he had been eating at a Cafe in the First District upon getting the call and made his way to Headquarters as soon as possible, following the orders. Unlike their past mission against that huge heartless, today Maximilien was not in the mood to clean himself up with his uniform. Wearing black trousers covering most of the black boots he had on which made the boots look as if simply dress shoes, a White dress shirt was below as black and silver lined vest with a messy red tie above it all and topping it off, a black silver-lined jacket. His ice blue eyes moved across the room, looking upon everyone who had entered already with a friendly smile and wave.

It seemed like so many of his fellow operatives had all been on top of things and there in seconds or minutes at least. "Zero here, reporting in." Zero declared, with a salute but not looking entirely serious from the messy tie, although he meant no disrespect from it. Peering at his fellow Division-mates, he remembered some of them and their abilities but wondered what the others had in store to show that he had yet to see, they were what peaked his interest currently.

Such a stupid boy. You can’t even make up your mind about anything, can you? You heard the call, and now it’s your time to figure out whether you are willing to go and answer it. Arcadia called your division, now go and see to it that you get what you need to get done. Don’t worry about what happened. It’ll be okay. Something will happen, and I may just have to go away afterwards, but is that really so bad? Believe it what you want, but don’t miss an opportunity to get back home just because of me. I’m still here, and I will try to be around as much as I can.

Those words rung deeply in Evan’s ears as he flew towards the building that he was supposed to meet the rest of fire division in. They were true. Everything about him was hypocrisy. He didn’t want to take sides, yet he felt this urge to help Arcadia. It was annoying being like this, and he hated himself for it, but this was nothing to cry about. The person who had spoken to him knew what they were talking about, but he too was a hypocrite. Not like Evan though. Evan had a choice that he could make, but the speaker of those words really didn’t.

“Believe in what you want,” Evan said to himself quietly. “I like that. I don’t need to worry what they think. I can fight for whatever reason. Stop beating yourself up about this whole situation. If they want your help, then they can have it. If they don’t like the way they do it, then get out of there. It’s simple, it’s clean (oh the pun), and it just works.” For the first time in a very long time a smile came across Evan’s face.

He wasn’t wearing his uniform, and he didn’t care. His paper airplane crashed into the side of the building and he emerged unharmed. He entered the building and saw that people had already arrived. He didn’t move towards anyone, and he didn’t say hello to Lavender, for he was still sort of uncomforted by her. But he gave her a nod to tell her that he was here and that he was ready to work.

He stood and just thought to himself.

Don’t say anything to him about it, it would just end badly.

He thought again.

Thank you.

"Reporting for duty ma'am! What's the mission today?" Lavender smiled as she recognized Yumi's voice; the leader of Arcadia swiveling about the command seat to face the first of the Fire Division who had just entered the mission control room, interlacing her fingers together into a pyramid. Lavender remembered that this girl was also the first to report in when Neo-Arcadia headquarters was first established... talk about deja vu!

"At ease, Yumi," Lavender replied, rising from the command seat to return Yumi's salute. "We'll wait for others to arrive before I proceed with the briefing." Before long, another showed up - a certain one-eyed detective by the name of Jameson B. Willicott; she hadn't seen or heard from either Jameson or his protege since the former informed her of his business in Niwa a week ago, but either way it was good to see that they were still among the first to answer the call.

"Man, you're gonna get sick of seeing me around." Jameson said with a laugh as he saw Yumi. "Woow... Gotta admire a woman in uniform." the detective commented as he glanced at Lavender, a warm smile on his face. The leader of Arcadia couldn't help but smile back, in closed-eyes kitten-esque smile.

"It's been a while, Jameson; glad to see you around here again," Lavender said as she opened her eyes and her expression gradually returned to a more businesslike one.

"Nice to see you again chief." Jameson replied, glancing about the office - besides themselves, the people inside were mostly tan-uniformed Wind and Water division operatives; some recruited from Traverse Town denizens, others GLADIUS operatives who have been transferred over from Nova Oasis to assist in the day-to-day administration and maintenance of the headquarters. "Sorry we don't hang out in my free time. If you knew the week I'd had you might understand."

"Well, I'm not sure if I wanted to know," Lavender replied in an uncharacteristically sheepish tone. "Especially with the way Selene asked about you a few days ago... something about a basket of flowers." Lavender looked over her shoulder and caught sight of the Briton redhead, garbed in her tan-colored Arcadia dress uniform, enter the mission control room.

"The flowers are an omen, I tell you!" Selene exclaimed - her words somewhat intelligible due to the English girl speaking really fast, having overheard the conversation, before going up to the command seat where Lavender, Jameson and Yumi were gathered and saluted. "Selene Frostfire reporting, Captain!" The Briton waited for Lavender to give the signal for her to be at ease, taking a momentary pause to catch her breath after having spoken this loudly and fast.

"It was just like those other times, I-" Selene tried to continue, her voice now slowed down to its normal speed, but Lavender refused to let her continue, stretching out an open right palm a foot in front of Selene's face.

"Hush, Selene." Lavender said gently but firmly, the expression on the purple-haired Esper's face telling the Briton redhead that she didn't want to hear anymore of it. The Briton nodded quietly, taking a step back and standing at ease with her feet spaced slightly apart and her hands behind her back.

"Looks like we may proceed," Lavender commented as several more operatives came in, some of which she already knew, and others of which she was only hearing them say their names themselves for the first time. Chizu, Star, Damon, Meglumar, Erin, Ryo, Miyuki, Zero and Evan. Selene smiled and waved - it was just like the old days, with familiar friends and new ones, fighting side by side. Lavender looked at one of the Wind division operatives manning a computer terminal and nodded.

"As you may know, two of the most dangerous books missing from the Infinite Library have been reported missing," the purple-haired Esper began, her arms folded across her chest as the giant holographic display started up, showing a map of Florencia. "Of the two, one of them - a spell book, has been traced to Florencia by our field intel. At present, no further information exists apart from knowing that the book has apparently fallen into the wrong hands, and our intel teams are working on locating the hideout of whomever has made off with the book," Lavender continued.

"Of course, our sources reveal that the one who made off with the spell book is likely one who wouldn't give it up without a fight, and that is where the work of we, the Fire Division come in." A display window opened up, showing a snapshot of a man - or rather a being who appeared to be a sickly man on one half; sallow-skinned, hairless and wizened, and a living corpse - dessicated skin stretched over bones, on the other half.

Jameson didn't flinch..

The first time he'd seen a body he'd thrown up. He'd done the same several times after that. He somehow missed it now that it was gone. The wretch of his stomach at the sight of gore. It felt like his innocence had slipped away when he was looking. It felt like a part of him was dead. However his tone as he spoke was compassionate to the other. "No need to look more than an instant.." He said with a frown.. He glanced to Lavender with a sigh. "I hate magic." He mumbled to himself.

He folded his arms and glanced behind him towards the Arcadians to gauge their responses. He needed to know the mentality of them. He could feel their emotions but seeing their face would tell him a story as well.. Like if they were trying to lie about their exposure to death by putting on a fake expression compared to their real emotions. All of this was important to him as a detective. But more importantly if someone threw up he'd need to dodge.

He only owned one fedora! Like hell he was getting 'body' vomit all over it! He was seriously gonna be pissed if they made him change clothes too...

Chizu blinked as the blond kid called her by her last name. "Do I...know you?" she asked, wondering if he was one of those new students she had met before. He certainly didn't look familiar and he didn't look like anyone she had seen before. Her attention, however, was drawn by the pink-haired girl that entered the room. Miyuki?!?

"The hell is she doing here?!?" Chizu hissed towards Damon. "I thought she was bedridden!"

She immediately shut up and turned towards Lavender as Lavender started explaining. Chizu didn't flinch when the picture came out, her face remaining stony. Things like that still bothered her a little bit, but not as much as they might have originally. Besides, in her mind, nothing she had seen yet could compare to having to identify her sister's body in the morgue or to seeing Coryn half-dead on the top of the Shrine steps. If Chizu felt any emotion at looking at this walking corpse, it was remembrance and a hint of sadness. And pity.

"I second that," she said when Jameson said that he hated magic. She looked at Lavender. "So, we have to take the book back from that dude. Got it."

~ * ~ * ~

Star smiled at Meglumar's reaction to seeing Chizu, leaning over and smiling slightly. "Wrong Chizu," she whispered with a smile on her face as she turned towards Lavender. Florencia. She was already acquainted with that particular world. In fact, she had just come from there. She didn't think that she would be back so soon. Still, a book retrieval mission sounded interesting.

"Ewww..." said Star, making a face as the man's picture came up. She wondered if she had turned a little green at that. "That's gross, chief," she said, hugging her stomach in a rather exaggerated pose as she looked at Lavender, mischievous light still dancing in her eyes even though her pallor looked just a little green. "Really gross."

Ryo saw the image. He didn't flinch but merely looked long enough to get the details. "Not the prettiest picture,"he thought.

"At least he still has his personality..."Terion thought with a mental chuckle.

Ryo ignored him. "So what kind of spells are we talking about? Monster or demon summoning? Necromancy? Elemental spells? Book of natural disaster spells? Maybe a book that gives you super powers? I mean sure he doesn't look too handsome, but I doubt it is beauty spells,"Ryo asked. He didn't want to go fighting a spellcaster without knowing what he'd be up against.

Disgusting... He didn't care to look at corpses but his stomach didn't turn too much. "Then I guess we'd better be off. We have a large area to search after all." He didn't seem immediately prone to moving. He was just commenting. Not so much an Extermination Division as an Elimination Division then. That wasn't as bad in his mind.
