Tastes Like Chicken

To anyone passing by, the scene in the forest would seem quite peaceful, even to the point of being too peaceful. No where could the song of birds be heard, and no sign of life in the forest. But under a tree sat and dark figure, curled up in a ball. To the one passing by, it would seem that it was a sleeping bear, or a very, very large dog. Only, you know, people who weren't paying attention. Mack slept silently under a tree, curled into a ball like he always slept. A deep rumbling came from in his stomach, but the noise was ignored by its creator, he instead opted to role over. Mack was enjoying his nap, and would be unhappy if someone came around and woke him up. |

Stupid camera... Akira thought as she made her way through the brush of the forest. It was unnaturally quiet as the fragile girl came staggering past the trees, a large black camera swinging around her neck. She only just saved up to buy the camera, and she spent the whole morning taking pictures of flowers and animals. She had spotted a deer feeding and she wanted to get a photo of it. But then it suddenly ran off into the forest, and Akira followed it. Now, not only was the deer totally out of sight, but the girl was getting deeper and deeper into a place where she was not very familiar with. It began to scare her even though it was in the middle of the day. Her long white-silver hair was tangled at the ends, and her jeans were blotched with dirt. Continuing her pace, she saw a hunched up figure idly resting behind a tree. "Ooohh..." Akira whispered to herself, bringing her camra up to her eye and zooming in on the animal. Only, she then saw that it was not an animal. It was a figure... a person. It looked like it was resting, so she stayed silent. Instead, she quickly snapped a shot of the figure and continued to gaze at it curiously. *click!* |

"Click" was all that was needed to set Mack off. That, and the sounds Akira had been making, going through the woods. But now, Mack was woken up, so giving a loud yawn, and he started to sniff the air. Not being a dog anymore, he quickly remembered that people noses are much weaker then his old one. So, sitting all the way up, he opened up his mouth in a large, twisted snarl of teeth and lips. "Ahoy! Anyone outta there?" He said, still rubbing the sleep from his oh so now human eyes, trying to figure out who it was who woke him up from his oh so enjoyable nap, and what their oh so unenjoyable punishment shall be. |

"Ahoy! Anyone outta there?" the figure stretched. It was a guy... well, something close to it, at least. Akira froze, lowering the camera from her face. She stepped back momentarily, feeling her body shaking. He looks dangerous... she thought. "I... I..." she stuttered out, unable to take her eyes off the guy as his mouth twisted into a scowl. "I'm r-really sorry!" the girl managed to force out. "I w-was j-just takking pictures o-of plants and a-animals and I, uh..." she could barely finish her explanation. Fear had gripped her voice. She could feel the color draining from her skin as she stumbled backwards, falling onto the ground. He looks dangerous... she thought again. And he looks angry... |

"Ah. There ya' are." Mack walks over, his mouth still in a toothy grin. "Now, what are ya' so afraid of?" He was looking down on her. He paused for a second, trying to make out what the girl was saying. "If you got somethin' to say," He said, the snarl turning to a frown, teeth still visible, all thirty-two, "You should say it withoutta stutterin'. I don't normally eata people, but I ain't against it, ya know." At this point, Mack was more of trying to scare her into running away, and less a real threat. To him, people taste a lot like lizards. |

Akira took a gulp. I better try to talk with a straight voice... she thought about his threat of eating her. It scared her. Absentmindedly, the girl gripped one of her wrists, rubbing it lightly. I swear, I won't taste good...! She breathed in deeply. "I..." she was almost hyperventilating. "I... I... Iamsosorry!" she gushed out in one breath. "I onlywanted to takepictures of... *breath* the plantsandanimals here! I didn't m-mean to d-d-disturb you--I'msososorry!" After rushing all that out, Akria felt her face go red. She could sense the blood rushing to her brain as she tried to compose herself. Bowing her head, the girl felt defeated somewhat. |

"Buh?" Mac mumbled out loudly, a dumb founded look on his face. "Take a deep breath." He looked at the girl with displeasure and dislike, all wrapped up into some kind of dis-emotion. "Can't ya' talk? Are ya' not a native speaker or something?" Suddenly struck with inspiration, he starts to slow down. "Slow~. Down~. And~. Talk~. Slowly~. Little~. Girl~." He lowered his lips during this, a hid away his teeth, not on purpose, just that his gums were drying out. He rather ignored the movements of the girl, and the redness of her face, rather focusing on trying to get her to talk normally, before probably making her run off. |

"I..." Akira tried to talk slowly. Breathe, girl... she thought to herself. Take it one word at a time... Looking down, she tried to concentrate on her words. "I... just. Wanted to... take pictures... of the... plants. And. Animals. Here..." So far, so good... Akira felt embarrassed that she had to say this over again. It was if she was subjecting herself to self-embarrassment. "I... did. Not. Mean. To. Disturb you..." She gulped deep and looked at Mack in his eyes, trying to be as sincere as possible as her face drained of color. "I. Am. So sorry..." Then she sighed in relief. I said everything... she breathed. "Ah, well that makes sense." Mack smiled a little bit, and though it wasn't meant to be scary, it still came off as terrifying. "Now, I would suggest that you run along little girl," he chuckled to himself. He found messing with this girl funny. "the animals aren't always this nice. Once you get down to it, I'm just a little puppy..." He bent closer to the girl, so he was face to face with her. "Aren't I?" At this point, he opened his lips up wide, and showed off his nice set of thirty-two teeth, with was even scarier then normal. He was forcing himself from laughing out loud, knowing he'll get a good reaction from the girl. |

"A-a-a-a-a-a-a-aaaaa...." Akira was trying to force words out of her mouth, though her voice just would not pull through. She could feel her skin flush many different colors all within a very short amount of time. To her, for one moment, everything seemed to spin forever. Pouncing backwards in defense of herself, Akira hit her head against the trunk of a tree, which forced her to her knees. She could feel the rocks on the ground graze her kneecaps on the other side of her jeans and she gave a slight wince. I gotta get out of here...! she could feel her heart racing. She looked back up at Mack, and she felt her voice choke. She felt so scared. Scared enough to die... Gotta find a way outta here! Gotta find a way outta here! she kept thinking, trying to push herself up, but only falling back down again, this time on her backside. She tried to speak again, tears beginning to well in her eyes. Her hyperventilation kept the words from coming out. This guy... this guy... scares me... so much... |

Mack started to giggle a little. The face the girl was making was priceless, and he felt that he was just starting. He then noticed to the camera on the Akria. Kneeling down, he started to grab at the machine,making a serious face as he did it. "Hold still." He reached out to grab it. It might be worth something. "How much is it worth?" |

"H-How much...?" Akira managed to choke out. My camera? she thought to herself. Is he talking about my camera? Looking at the machine around her neck, which Mack had just grabbed a hold of, the girl held her breath. Speak slowly and carefully... breathe--Breathe! "A-About... a f-feeeewwww... huundred....." Taking a gulp, Akira reached her hands up to her neck and gripped lightly on the strap around her neck. |

"A few hundred!? Awesome!" Mack got excited at the thought of how much the camera could be worth. "Wait, do ya' mean dolla's, or them yen?" He looked at her with narrowing eyes, understanding that there is a difference between and few hundred dollars and a few hundred yen. A large one. He looked at Akria, still scary, and seemingly unwilling to leave. |

He wants to take my camera...! Akira bit her lip. Well, it's obvious it's in dollars, right? You can't even get this thing's memory stick with just a few hundred yen... If i don't tell him that, he's gonna get mad... or worse... "Uh... D..." she began. But if I told him it was in yen, he wouldn't take it! she thought, perhaps a second too late because she was already speaking. "Dol.." No, say yen! Say yen! "...lers..." Well, aren't you a genius. |

"Alright! I'll be takin' that now!" Mack holds out his hand for a second, and then makes the motion to hand it over. He stands there for another second. And another. "You are, goin' to give me that, right?" He raised and eyebrow at her when he said this, and stared. |
