A stiff breeze blew as Selene tilted her head upwards to steal a glance at the looming facade of the Victorian mansion standing before her. As much as she'd been initially skeptical, it turned out to be true after all. It was earlier in the day, during her lunch break that Selene had overheard some people at the Fairy Tail guild talk about a mansion somewhere in the second district which wasn't there previously. But the part of the rumor that caught her attention was that the description of the mansion matches none other than that of the Frostfire manor. She had found it difficult to believe at first, but a rumor like this was something that she just had to see with her own eyes to either confirm or deny it. And there was no denying what she just say, as the Briton's eyes locked onto the Frostfire family crest on the archway of the entrance pavilion. Looks like I'm home, I suppose? Selene thought. She knew full well of the Heartless presence in the Second District, but when shit hits the fan, she knew she could count on her Arcadia uniform's communication feature to call for help - if she could stay alive long enough for help to arrive, that is. Of course, the other thing about seeing one's own home right here in Traverse Town was also the gnawing feeling of hope. Hope that like herself, her family had also somehow survived the universal collapse of Hyakuji. All that was left for her was to just enter, wasn't it? Tentatively, Selene took her steps forward, moving closer and closer to the Frostfire manor's entrance. However, as she reached the first step leading up to entrance pavilion the Briton felt as if she were wearing boots of lead, her feet felt heavy. "Home is where the heart is..." Selene mumbled to herself as she dragged herself forward, placing her right foot on the first step. She just couldn't understand why her own home could feel so... stifling. Was it her instincts warning her of hidden danger within its walls? Or perhaps, it was her inner skeptic telling her not to get her hopes up, lest she finds nothing but disappointment within? But whatever the case, the English girl knew she must plod on, and with much effort, she placed her left foot on the second step. One more to go... |

"Libra advises you to think it more thoroughly before you take another step," a soft monotone voice entered Selene's ears. The voice came from a petite girl, her white silky bangs covering her face. The light from the Nintendo DS reflected off of the girl's face, revealing a scary image. Her gaze was fixed on to her DS. "Dice the turnips and carrots before stirring them it." The girl was like a bushido, and her stylus was her blade. In a heart beat, her strokes were deadly and swift. Next thing you could hear was a little ding and a smile was drawn onto her face. "Mama's proud of me...." From the time she woke up until now, she had been sucked into cooking mama, on the verge of defeating once again for the 5th time, all gold medals. Closing her DS, she finally looked at the Selene with her piercing eyes. "You should listen to Libra; he gives the best judgments. Don't doubt him." The girl raised a hand to touch her temples, closing her eyes. Her lips moved but nothing came out. Visions filled her mind, vague as always. She opened her eyes and stared at the girl once again. "Libra showed me something interesting," she smirked, "Your home, right? It would seem that you can enter it and face those who wants your company," she foretold, "Or act like it's not there and stay humble as you were." |

Suddenly a girl with black feather wings appeared out of no where and announced "I will be back in 30 seconds" then suddenly fly away at supersonic speed, leaving a small crater on the floor while producing a loud sonic boom, causing winds. Sure enough, with half a minute, the girl with black feather wings flies back, this time, at still fast but far lower then sonic speed, well, she is pulling another girl by the pony-tail in the sky, and that girl, shouldn't be able to take super sonic speed. . Looks painful, and sounds painful, from the way the other girl is screaming. "Ouch!!! Pain!!!!!!!" Pong! The girl slammed the other girl onto the floor, and then salutes everyone, saying "I have returned" before disappearing. "I hate this spell." |

"Libra advises you to think it more thoroughly before you take another step," A soft and monotonous voice, obviously female - called out from behind Selene, causing her to stop in her tracks. Heartless? No, it couldn't be. Selene has had enough run-ins with those creatures to know for one that they don't speak. Except for the encounter with a quartet of Invisibles at the gates of AcaBel, but regardless, despite the monotone quality of the voice the young Briton knew that was no Heartless who called out to her. Selene looked over her shoulder to behold the icy-haired girl behind her, before turning around to face this newcomer, who was apparently more focused on the Nintendo DS she was holding in her hands. Still, she did make a pretty strong point. The girl closed her DS before looking at Selene, her piercing gaze making eye contact with the Briton redhead. "You should listen to Libra; he gives the best judgments. Don't doubt him." "Mmm... hello?" Selene asked, waving her raised right hand in confusion. She was never one to follow horoscopes, but the girl who stood before her spoke like one and was actually quite spot on. Selene didn't know if the white-haired girl heard her, but the next thing she did was she closed her eyes, touching her head to her temples in deep concentration. "Libra showed me something interesting," The girl droned on, as a smirk came upon her countenance, "Your home, right? It would seem that you can enter it and face those who wants your company... Or act like it's not there and stay humble as you were." "Yes, that would be my home all right..." Selene replied as she looked over her shoulder to steal another glance at the heavy wooden double doors. "Or what's left of it." She'd only seen the family manor - the rest of the Frostfire Estate; the gardens, the hedge maze and the swimming pool, were nowhere to be found. The manor itself was in a state of disrepair, no doubt ravaged during the Heartless onslaught - some of its windows were shattered and the roof was missing its tiles in several places - it was a far cry from the elegant mansion she called home. "If things were the way they were before the destruction of Hyakuji, I'd gladly say welcome to my humble abode at this point," Selene commented offhandedly, turning back to the mysterious white-haired girl and nodding slightly to acknowledge Kyonka's painful arrival by Tengu Express. "But just to digress somewhat... may I know who are you?" Selene asked, eyeing the white-haired girl curiously, young she may be but there is an undeniable sage-like quality in her words and demeanor, and first things first the Briton would like to know a bit about who she was talking to right now. |

"Nobody you would have to worry about; curiosity killed the cat, you know, " she replied, "But it's Creme Brulee, Ms. Selene Frostfire. " The girl eyed the mansion. 'Impressive...I guess...Wonder how it looks inside...' She had never been in a mansion before and she couldn't enter this estate without the permission of the girl's. The ginger had said something that caught her attention. "Before the destruction..." the fortune-teller whispered. Before the little gypsy interrupted Selene's nice little pre-family reunion, Creme Brulee saw the girl hesitating to go near the massive house. That was when Libra came flowing into her mind with visions mixed around, paths intertwining together, making it hard to tell like always. "Tell me," she began to interrogate, "Why did you hesitate to go even near these wooden doors?" Carelessly, she walked towards the doors, taunting Selene. She placed her hands on the knobs and began tracing the designs on the door. "You really need to keep your mansion in better shape. They cost a lot you know...." Turning to face eye to eye her, Creme Brulee gave Selene another ice-cold gaze. "I know you know what's going to happen when you enter this place," she said, "Why put yourself in stress? This is no longer your home that you can enter in peace. Please, enlighten me." Without lifting up the tension, she shouted to the fallen girl, "And you really need to work on your flying techniques. Doesn't take a psychic to see that..." |

"Nobody you would have to worry about; curiosity killed the cat, you know," the girl replied plainly as she eyed the Frostfire manor; the structure had certainly seen better days. "But it's Creme Brulee, Ms. Selene Frostfire." "You... knew my name, Miss Creme Brulee?" Selene asked in slight surprise. "Have we met?" The Briton wondered aloud. But she quickly realized that there was no need to be surprised - after all, there were those who were experts at procuring information, like Jameson and Xuanmeng - not to mention people have a tendency to underestimate how quickly word tends to spread about. On top of all that, Selene could not deny the fact Creme Brulee radiates a magical aura, not unlike herself and anyone who professes to be a magus. Could it be that scrying happens to be the field of magic this icy-haired girl specializes in? If this were the case, no surprise she'd manged to procure her name - although as long as it isn't her True Name this Creme Brulee managed to get, there is little reason for alarm. "Tell me, why did you hesitate to go even near these wooden doors?" Creme Brulee's tone at this point sounded somewhat like a police interrogator, and as if in mockery of Selene's hesitation, walked casually up to the mansion's doors, placing her hand on the brass doorknobs and tracing the Victorian-themed patterns on the door's surface. "You really need to keep your mansion in better shape. They cost a lot you know...." "It's... it's not like my family doesn't take care of the place," Selene retorted as she strode forward to the entrance pavilion, stopping at the doors right next to the white-haired girl that is Creme Brulee. "For the record, this house didn't originally belong here - the last I saw of it, it was located back in England. Apparently the Heartless didn't spare this place either..." the Briton's tone was at first somewhat indignant, perhaps due to the fact the other girl sounded like she was toying around with her, but after the fire had died down Selene found her words coming with a bit more difficulty. "It's just that I'm stunned to find this place right here in Traverse Town..." Selene continued uneasily, her right hand gripping the doorknob tightly in a white-knuckled grip. "Seeing something so close to my heart in a place so alien to me, it just feels... strange," the Briton took a deep breath as her hand turned the knob. "I know you know what's going to happen when you enter this place," Creme Brulee's words sent a chill down the corporate heiress' spine, causing Selene to gulp slightly in unease as her grip loosened around the doorknob, but only ever so slightly. "Why put yourself in stress? This is no longer your home that you can enter in peace. Please, enlighten me." The white-haired girl's words continued to resonate after they left her lips. "Two... two things," Selene replied grimly. "There's this tiny ray of hope that my family may have survived doomsday, and I long to be reunited with them. But yet there is fear... fear that this fragile hope could be crushed, and fear that I am such a fool to have entertained such a childish notion," the Briton's shoulders quaked slightly. "But either of this is better than uncertainty," Selene appeared to have steadied herself at this point, sounding more certain of herself as she turned her head to meet Creme Brulee's impassive, soul-piercing gaze, the Briton's eyebrows knitted in determination as her green eyes narrowed slightly from resolve. "Better than living constantly on the edge, wondering if they're alive... or dead. I may fear that my hopes could be smashed, but at least there is some peace in knowing the truth. This uncertainty is something I just can't live with, this sort of thing can drive a person mad." "If they're alive... all is good I suppose; otherwise I know it's time for me be strong and move on," Selene concluded as she turned the doorknob, not paying attention to what Creme Brulee said next to Kyonka, opening one of the doors slightly ajar, before throwing it wide open, exposing an elegantly furnished antechamber and through a portal at the end of the guest area, led into the mansion's main hall proper, the first thing the Briton seeing past the antechamber was the central staircase, its marble railings broken off in places, that leads to the upper stories of the luxurious dwelling. |

Creme Brulee listend to her intentatively, as she was enlightened by Selene's story. The girl was very close to her family, it was a connection that she never had, only with her brother. Thinking about it, Creme Brulee just kind of packed up and left her family. She didn't think of the lost they felt. The fortune teller didn't miss them then and she didn't miss them now. Call her cold hearted but she knew it was best this way. The door to the mansion opened and even if theheartless raided this place, she was still amazed. Keeping face, Creme resumed to her cooking mama game. Next creation: Creme Brulee. A series of dings and goals were accomplished in a few minutes. As she played the game, she went ahead and walked into the mansion without a care what the enligsh girl had to say. "What now, Miss Frostfire?" she asked, "I'm not stopping you from anything. Go on; I'm curious about your actions." |

"What now, Miss Frostfire?" Creme Brulee asked impassively as she played yet another round of Cooking Mama on her DS as she stepped into the mansion ahead of Selene. "I'm not stopping you from anything. Go on; I'm curious about your actions." There was nothing but silence as Selene followed closely behind Creme Brulee, quickly pulling ahead of the snowy-haired girl as she moved past her, leaving the antechamber and entering the main hall of the Frostfire Manor. "Mom? Dad?" Selene called out, her voice echoing through the building. "Thomas? Johan? Arthur? Anyone?" the Briton called out for her parents, followed by her brothers. Nothing answered her call, save for her own voice echoing back at her, accompanied by nervous squeaking and scuttling of rats that had become unsettled by the human presence inside the building. "Looks like I'm going to have to search room by room if I have to," Selene commented to herself as she walked over to the central staircase, pausing at the broom closet located at the foot of the stairs, one of the several located inside the mansion for the servants who maintain the palatial residence to keep cleaning equipment and other miscellaneous emergency gear. "Can't see in here..." the redhead mumbled as brooms, mops and other stuff tumbled out upon opening the door to the broom closet, hissing slightly through her teeth as a bucket hit her on the head. Not being in the mood to neatly rearrange everything, the English girl kicked aside the scattered paraphernalia and began to rifle through a chest of drawers, taking objects out and throwing them aside until she finally stopped... at a flashlight. "Ah, just what I needed," Selene commented as she tested the flashlight, and to her satisfaction it was in good working condition, shining the flashlight around a bit. The first floor consisted of the main hall, the dining hall, the kitchen, the entertainment lounge and the antechamber, which she knew weren't the best hiding places. Ruling out these possibilities, Selene knew her options were to either ascend the stairs to the bedrooms, or to head past the central staircase, past the dining hall, to the kitchen and descend the stairs to the basement. But for now, the Briton decided to head up, to the second floor where the guest bedrooms and servants' quarters are located. "Anyone in here? It's me, Selene," the redhead Briton called out once more as she began to ascend the marble steps to the second floor, looking back to see if Creme Brulee and Kyonka would follow. |

I hate this spell. Where is this place? Seems there's a big building over here. Hay, it' Selene-San. She's going into that house? Why? Guess I can only follow her. Selene-San, wait for me. "I am here, Selene-San, where's this place? I was looking for you and find you here." For some unknown reasons our 'wonderful' advisor wants me to help her look for Selene-San, what a pain, that woman!. "Anyway, need any help with whatever you are doing?" |

"I am here, Selene-San, where's this place? I was looking for you and find you here." Kyonka said as she followed the other two girls into the Frostfire Manor. Upon hearing Kyonka's voice the Briton stopped to allow the ponytailed girl to catch up. "Anyway, need any help with whatever you are doing?" she offered. "Well, this mansion is my home... as in the place I had lived most of my life before I came to Hyakuji," Selene replied, looking up at the crystal chandelier that dangled from the ceiling of the main hall. "To be honest, it's a bit of a surprise to find it here in Traverse Town after Hyakuji was destroyed." There was a brief moment of absolute silence as the Briton just stood there, saying and doing nothing before raising her hand which held the flashlight, placing her hand close to her chest. "Well, you could help by searching this place together with me," Selene continued, nodding her head before turning on the flashlight. |

Creme sighed as she continued to follow the two while playing cooking mama. Selene had search through the massive house and found no one. Nothing. This Kyonka person offered to help but she doubt that it would be any help. "It doesn't seem anyone else is here, my deary," she said. Leaning against the wall, she sat there. slashing away. Creme Brulee was of no use. She was basically the jerk that stood and watched. The best you could get from her is a few rude remarks. Better yet, think of her more or a floating ghost; the KO'd pokemon that continued to follow you; dead weight. The girl had no intentions in helping to find the lost family. It was better off if Selene continued to think her family was dead and moved on. "So you plan to waste your time searching this god forsaken mansion?" she asked, "It could take hours going through this place. You need more people to cover more ground." |

"Alright, sure!" I replied to Selene-San "But what are you looking for?" Anyway, I don't think I will have any needs to combat in the near future. Might as well use my spell cards to help Selene-San. "Kyuu Kyuu 'Genso no Otome'! Suika-Chan, can I ask you a favor?" A portal opens as Gensokyo's adorable little Oni leaps out from it. "Sure! Kamu! I'm really bored anyway, so what's up? Anyway, want a drink?" She asked as she offers me her Calabash. "No thanks, I am underage." I am not really a great fan of 96% pure ethanol. |

CRASH! Something fell, and it hit the ground hard enough to break. It was definitely glass and fragile obviously, by the sound of it hitting the ground and shattered. There would be a moment of silence right after then a small creaking sound that followed right after. The group would suddenly hear this coming from the upstairs master bedroom. There was either someone or something there, unless things tend to fall and make creaking sounds on their own. For them, it might scared them or freak them out, but the sudden sound of the crash was loud. It had echo off the walls and through some of the halls. |

Selene had searched through several bedrooms at this point, but it was clear that they were thus far the only people within the mansion, and for the most part the only ones who were actively searching were Selene and Kyonka. Creme Brulee did nothing, and seemed to rub it in with her comments. "It doesn't seem anyone else is here, my deary," the snowy-haired girl commented as she leaned back against a wall, DS and stylus in hand. "So you plan to waste your time searching this god forsaken mansion?" she asked, "It could take hours going through this place. You need more people to cover more ground." "It's no waste of time to search this place," Selene replied, somewhat indignantly. "I descended from a long line of wizards, and even if my family isn't here, stored somewhere within these walls are magical relics and artifacts collected by my ancestors over the generations - powerful relics that could prove useful." Kyonka was quick to offer her help, in the form of asking for the help of one of her friends from Gensokyo. "Kyuu Kyuu 'Genso no Otome'! Suika-Chan, can I ask you a favor?" Kyonka requested as a petite girl with strawberry blond hair and a pair of long horns stepped out from a portal that appeared out of thin air. "Sure! Kamu! I'm really bored anyway, so what's up? Anyway, want a drink?" The oni known as Suika replied as she held out a calabash in front of her. "No thanks, I am underage." Kyonka replied sheepishly. "Well, I guess one more would make the job easier," Selene commented. "I don't think there's anyone in the guest bedrooms and servants quarters... so the next place left would be the family-" Before the Briton could finish a loud crash from upstairs reverbated throughout the mansion. "Cor blimey... it came from the master bedroom!" Selene gasped as she took off ahead of the rest, running up the stairs to the third floor where the family members' quarters are located, her footfalls resounding in the deathly silence that followed the loud crash, heading towards the master bedroom. Taking a deep breath, Selene's grip closed around the brass doorknob and turned before pushing the ornamentally-carved door wide open, revealing what was within... |

"Suika-San" I asked the adorable Oni, "Can you help us search around this house to see if there's anyone else around or anything unusual?" "Sure thing!" She replied as she becomes a mist and disperse, what a effective way to look for things. Suddenly, there was a loud crash and Selene-San ran towards the sourse. "Wait for me!" I called out to Selene-San as I followed behind her. Selene-san ran to a room and opens the door, I wonder what we will find inside it? Edited by Son of Light, Nov 6 2009, 09:23 AM.
