MAIN PLOT: TOWN FESTIVAL

Now that Cyp is back we're rolling on with the next chunk of main plot content... the Hyakuji Town Festival which doubles as a fundraiser for the school. Some notes on the festival:
-Festival threads don't count to your Thread Slots
-Try to keep to 2 festival threads at a time or so to avoid replying slow and killing threads.
-Strive to make your festival threads OPEN to reflect the fact everyone is wandering around openly and it's a big celebration thing. You can still exclude select people you're refusing to RP with though.
-Bigger events such as the Battle of the Bands will go up in time via Cyp or someone over that stuff.
-Because we're using the Event Forum to organize it you should put in the first post of a thread where in town you are or the like for the sake of setting for everyone else that might be joining in.

Note on the Treasure Hunt Rumors

Hey everyone, this is just a quote note to all the people in the treasure hunt rumor. Cyp won't have full net access for like 15 more days because lol Colleges are Inept (this is very true XD)
He said he should be able to manage his smaller threads but for the rumor, due to the number of people and needing tabs to check every post he has to account for, he won't be able to handle it until he's back.
As such, for all of you in the rumor, consider it now to be a free thread and take back the slot you'd been using on it. Once Cyp comes back fully he will wrap it up then.

Another Rules Update

Alright, the Staff has been mulling on some more stuff. This was actually something that was brought up way back at the start of Summer before we had even finished up Season 2 but the discussion kind of got lost to the wayside, but recently came back again.
A brand new 10th Section has been added to the final category of the Rules in regards to stuff after you are approved and roleplaying. It touches on the scrapping and replacement/swapping of your Characters.
Everyone should become familiar with it. It's effective immediately from this post on so those that have done any character swapping/replacing recently do not fret or worry; you get a free pass on it so we will all take on the rule fairly from common ground.
For your convenience I've copied the additions to the Rules thread below to save time.

X. Replacing/Swapping Characters
Since the addition of having more than one character the site has slowly been having more and more of a problem with people rapidly swapping to new character ideas for no good reason. Hyakuji is a Roleplaying Forum, not a MMORPG. The true enjoyment present comes from roleplaying and telling the story; not having the most impressive build.
Because of this we are now putting in formal rules about the replacement or swapping of Characters. There are two aspects to this rule. The Trial Period and the Scrap Limit. Both shall be detailed below:
Trial Period
Because many people don't even bother playing the character they've made to roleplay before they decide to replacement them and to cut down on people that hit a brick wall in their first thread and want a replacement that can overcome it we are implying a Trial Period for using a character that must be passed before you are eligible to replace them or swap out.
Before swapping/replacing a character you must have posted in 4 separate and different topics. All that go beyond one page. And also have to have roleplayed with 4 different people (Read: People, not characters). All criteria must be met without exception. Once you have met all the criteria if you still wish to replace/swap the character then you are free to do so.
Scrap Limit
However, also be aware there is a limit to how many times you can scrap a character and then replace/swap them. This is to cut down on the abuse of swapping/replacing constantly. Per Story Arc Season on the site you have a limit of scrapping a character 2-3 times. Whether you are cut off at 2 or 3 will be at the discretion of the Staff Member handling your case.
Once you hit the limit, you're done. No more swapping or replacing characters until the next Season begins on the site and the matter is non-negotiable. If you get stuck in this situation perhaps it would be a good time to reflect on why you're in it and perhaps give your remaining characters another good faith effort because there are certainly rewards to be found in roleplaying a character you are not used to or struggle with finding a voice for at the start; and who knows, you might just improve your roleplaying abilities along the way.

We've had a few updates and this thread is to address them all. First of all there has been a slight addition to the rules proper. Rather than anything actually new it's simply a clarification. It appears under the section discussing dorms but will be quoted for your convenience:
Next, since we've opened up for members suggesting rumors or small events and even running them on their own with approval the whole process has been kind of disjointed and there has been a lot of confusion about what a rumor is and people trying to push past stuff that would be personal plots or bigger events that would need lots of time and planning simply as rumors.
As such, being the guy over rumors, Cypriss has compiled a Guide explaining Plots in more detail and the 3 main types that occur here being rumors, personal plots and events: http://hyakujihigh.net/topic/3615893/1/
As such, to try and centralize all this and make it less confusing, since he is the rumor guy, player suggested/ran rumors will need to be approved through him. However, also keep in mind that in the effort of keeping things fair Item Rewards will still need to get the go ahead from myself or one of the other Staff just for the sake of protecting something imbalanced getting out there.
There will probably be a slight edit to the main rules to inform of this for everyone's convenience. Also, consider this effective today. If you've already got some rumors or something in with one of the Staff and are working on it then continue you to do so. This is to try and cut down on clutter and confusion and suddenly jerking them away and to someone fresh would just add on that.
Finally, there's been a lot of heated stuff going on the past week or two, from time to time, in the Chatbox. I think this is a good time to bring back up that primarily this site is about posting and roleplaying. It's nice that we have the chatbox to talk on. It makes a lot of things about posting convenient (especially with everyone using different IM clients and some none at all) and it is nice to just relax and chat and the whole community aspect of it.
However, huge fights like what have been going on can't keep occurring. It sours the experience for everyone present and it puts a bad face forward to new people that might be poking their heads in. If it keeps occurring it can't be tolerated and something will be done. Given its usefulness I don't think that will equate losing the chatbox so it will more than likely mean the removal of the source of the problem from the chatbox itself.
So, perhaps all of us can pause to think a little more before we pop off certain comments. Or perhaps if you realize you can't take part in the chatbox at certain times without avoiding fights you should be the bigger person and just avoid it and focus your mind on posting in the meantime because that's what really matters. The chatbox isn't a required part of the site. It's a convenience for us all that use the site as it's intended and roleplay here and a privilege; not a right.
To close on a bright note, things are going pretty well if you haven't noticed. We're constantly shooting 3 pages of active topics and pushing close to a 4th and these are mostly constituted of IC threads to boot. If you've been actively roleplaying then take a moment to pat yourself on the back.

And now to conclude here's the S3 promo amv. I will say... I don't think it's the best I've ever done. There's a single 1 frame flaw where some subs snuck into some video and I tried a lot to remove or obscure it but nothing was helping and I didn't feel like refinding new files to play with. Still I like how it turned out overall.
Probably a controversial song choice (lol boyband) but I like the sound and I think the tone fits the mood of the new Season.

Classes Starting

Please remember from now on to always take a glance at the Intercom and see what the current Time Period and weather conditions are. Like we used to do... if you don't specify for a thread then it's assumed as taking place as the currently listed time period. If for whatever reason you need a thread set at another part of the day you can set it in-topic but please make note of it.
The AMV and other stuff is progressing along nicely. Rewards will be up very soonish for the banner, skin and amv suggestion contests.

This is it... the last puzzle piece before we unleash the new Season 3 Theme. We've got some pretty good submissions for this I think but again... it's what we'll all be staring at so I think majority vote should rule. Here are the 4 choices:

The forum tends to shrink images in posts to not stretch the site so right click and copy and paste the image URL if you think any are messed up from that and want to see them at their proper full size.
